My Friends, Beware of the Smooth-Talking Salesman

I'm sure many of you have heard of the "smooth-talking salesman." They'll make many promises in order to "seal the deal" and lure you in to buying their product. You may not need" nor "want" the product their peddling, but by the time you're done listening to their proposal, they'll have you believing that you need the product they're selling. A slick-talking salesman will tell you anything and everything that they think you need to hear in order to "seal the deal."
And, alas, by the end of their sales pitch, nine times out of ten they will have persuaded you that you really need their product. Not only that, they'll make you believe that you can't live without it!

Those who have fallen for this scheme know what I'm talking about and have most likely learned a hard lesson. You may already realize that we should never "believe everything we hear."

Senator Barack Obama, to me, is a "smooth-talking saleman" where elegant words flow from his mouth.  He works hard to say all the right things in order to persuade "The People" to trust him. He's a smooth-talker with little substance and when it comes to running the United States of America, he has no experience. He has given the American people the impression that he'll become their saviour. He has all the solutions for what he thinks is wrong with this country but his words seem empty.

So, Obama is going to give hope to America. Really? What kind of hope? How? Surely he's not going to give hope to someone such as I, for I already have hope. It's the hope that God gives to His children.

Obama says he's going to bring about change, but what kind?

I'm satisfied with America the way it is. It's the greatest country in the world no matter who's the president. I have the freedom to be anything I work hard to become and I still have the freedom to do anything I want to do. I've listened to Mr. Obama's list of "changes" and I can say that I don't want, nor do I need his kind of changes. I'm not wealthy. I don't want my taxes raised, I don't want unborn babies killed, and I believe that the definition of marriage should remain between a man and a woman, plus, we already have the greatest health care system in the world. I don't want my health care to change.

These are only a few the things I'm satisfied with in America. I love America. I don't want to become dependant upon anyone, especially our government. I don't want to have to survive only because my government is taking care of me. I want to be prosperous and I don't want to have to depend on the goverment to make me prosperous. I want goverment to help me become prosperous by getting out of my way. I don't want to lose my freedoms and succumb to government's rules. I don't want the goverment to be controled by one political party. My friends, once we become needy and dependant of our government, we will become enslaved.

I have to say, no thanks, Mr. Obama. There's too many unanswered questions concerning your life. You've not been forthcoming with America. You've not answered many important questions about your character or your past life. I don't want the kind of hope you've offered because my ultimate hope lies in Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. He's my Saviour, not you. My hope lies in Him, not you. Only Jesus can give me everlasting hope.

In the meantime, I'll not put my hope in any man because if I do, I'll fall into the ditch behind him. Hmmm, it reminds me of that verse in the Bible that says, "When the blind lead the blind, they all fall into the ditch."

I pray that America will think for itself and stop looking for somebody to "save" you. Stop looking for government to "rescue" you from your troubles. That's not government's job. Don't allow a "smooth-talking" salesman to fool you and take you on a dangerous ride. Be very wary when choosing the leader of a free world. Be very wary, indeed.
